Sand Dollars

Today we learned about Sand Dollars. We watched a Youtube video about living Sand Dollars in the ocean. We learned that the Sand Dollar is a spiny, hard-skinned animal that is shaped like a coin (a flattened disk.)
They live on the sandy sea floor, and bury themselves under the sand.
Sand dollars have a mouth in the center, many black spines (which trap food), and the cilia (small hairs) that help direct food into the mouth.

Ask your child what colour a living Sand Dollar is?
What colour is a dead Sand Dollar still in the ocean?
What colour is a dried up Sand Dollar that we have in the classroom?
